Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
Frosted pumpkin has a special place in their hearts for The Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Egelston Cancer Center. In 2004 co-owner, Karyn Schwerzler, spearheaded an effort to create over 50 care packages that supplied the parents and siblings of the children with basic necessities for an emergency visit to the hospital. "These children and their families are going through something I cannot even imagine, I just want to let them know people do care, and I try to do something every year to help" Karyn says.
In 2003 they organized the collection of over 100 toys in addition to sponsoring & participating in a gingerbread decorating party for the children during the holidays. In keeping with the holiday tradition, Frosted Pumpkin annually collects many toys & games and donates various confections that are distributed throughout the hospital.
Our Troops in Iraq
In 2004 Jeffrey Schwerzler, co-owner, was presented with the opportunity to bring part of the Christmas spirit to the troops that are so bravely protecting our freedom. "A General Manager from one of the hotels we do regular businesses with said he had a nephew that was serving in Iraq, he asked if he could buy some gingerbread for care packages he was making. I told him that it would be our honor to donate whatever quantity he needed; I think we sent about 75 of them to them. I was touched by The Battalion's appreciation for our support."
