it's not, you can choose what lists to include or not include when you install the actual application and it's pointed out that the lists are not created by phoenixlabs, but by bluetack.co.uk. If anything, they should be blocking bluetack and not peerguardian. Or do you want your firewall to suffer the same fate? because that will also interfere with your updates in the same exact manner as PG2 does ;)

Life without PeerGuardian.........I can't imagine it..........

Apparently there are scientific bases for human behavior.. very interesting.

What if I want to play my savegames offline? :(

I've always enjoyed the name "botnet" instead of "PCs of a bunch of lame fcks who click on every mail attachment/and/or site file and don't have an AV installed" - but i guess "botnet" gives a more fantasy theme to it instead of just blaming stupidity (and its shorter ^^)

I'm glad they had the chance to do this before the 500,000 year half life was up on the radiation contamination... then it wouldn't be as cool.

While I hope it's true, I can't help but think this would be a bigger news story that I would have seen at least SOMETHING for on television tonight. I mean, it's not even on the front pages of "respectable" news sites. I'm sorry, but I'm calling ***** on this one.

Yes I remember news about them, the problem is that you need to enter the root password to install them. There are proof of concept virus like this for linux to, but they just would not spread that well in the real world.

I don't really think of all that software as "free" given how overpriced macs are. I also think Apple users tend to be a bit overly impressed by said software but that could just be from having the benefit of a lot more stuff available for free online. That said, the towers are bitchin'. If money were no concern for me, I'd probably get one. Their laptops, however, are garbage. I speak from experience as a guy who dealt with leasing in the IT department of a major advertising agency. All our laptops were on 2-year leases and I'd say about half the mac laptops were so busted up that it was cheaper to buy them out than pay the damage fees. The Dells were mostly fine and when they weren't the warranty had 'em covered. Now granted, part of this has to do with WHO is using Macs vs. PC at an ad agency but it was pretty absurd.

Ubuntu sucks. PCLinuxOS FTW!

That made me lol for some reason.
