Nothing wrong with other debian distros or Red Hat. Ubuntu is just the flavor of the week, if we look at the history of distros, we can see that another one will gain popularity eventually. Personally, I like this as it makes people concerned with compatibility and pushes new technologies. Personally, I started with slack, went to RH, and am now on ubuntu.
